FAQ

Sticker Making

Q: What kinds of photos make the best stickers?

A: Photos with a clear subject that stands out from the background work best. A few tips:

  • When shooting small objects on a table, a cleaner background gives more accurate results
  • Sufficient lighting helps produce more refined sticker edges
  • Try to keep the subject fully in frame — don't let it get cut off
  • Bright, colorful subjects look especially great

Q: Why is the subject recognition sometimes not accurate enough?

A: The on-device processing is smart, but it can struggle in certain situations:

  • The subject and background colors are too similar (e.g., a white cup on a white table)
  • Lighting is too dim, making the subject outline unclear
  • There are multiple overlapping objects in the frame

If this happens, try a different angle or adjust the lighting and take another shot. We're continually improving the recognition too!

Q: Can I pick photos from my album to make stickers?

A: Of course! Switch to album mode in the sticker creation screen and select existing photos to generate stickers. Old travel photos, pet pictures — they can all become stickers.

Q: Where are stickers saved?

A: Stickers are saved inside the App, organized by date in the timeline. You can also export individual stickers or entire canvases to your system photo library anytime.

Q: What format and quality are the stickers?

A: Stickers are saved as high-resolution images with transparent backgrounds, making them easy to use anywhere. Stickers exported to your photo library retain the white border and glow effect, looking just like a real physical sticker.

Organization & Management

Q: How do I organize stickers in batches?

A: Use the collections feature! Create collections around different themes and sort your stickers into categories. When you want to browse stickers of a particular theme, just go straight to the corresponding collection — no need to dig through the timeline.

Q: Will deleting a collection affect my stickers?

A: No. Deleting a collection only removes that grouping. The stickers in the collection remain in your timeline and will not be lost.

Q: How do I migrate data when switching to a new phone?

A: On your old phone, go to ButtSnap "Profile → Data" and export your data package. Then transfer it to your new phone via AirDrop, the Files app, or a computer, and import it in ButtSnap on the new device. All your stickers and collection structures will be fully migrated.

Privacy & Security

Q: Are my photos uploaded to a server?

A: No. All of ButtSnap's subject recognition and sticker generation happens on your device. Photos are never uploaded to any server or sent to anyone. Every photo you take stays only on your phone.

Q: Do I need to create an account?

A: No. ButtSnap has no account system — just open and use. All your data is stored on your device.

Q: Will I lose my stickers if I delete the app?

A: Yes. Sticker data is stored inside the App, not in your system photo library. So before deleting the app, remember to export a data backup from "Profile → Data" first. Sticker images you've already exported to your photo library are unaffected.

Pro Subscription

Q: What are the limitations of the free version?

A: The free version has a daily sticker creation allowance, which is perfectly sufficient for casual daily recording. If you snap more frequently or want to unlock more premium background styles, consider subscribing to Pro.

Q: How do I subscribe to and cancel Pro?

A: You can manage your subscription from the "Profile" page in the app. The subscription is processed through your Apple ID, with billing handled by Apple. To cancel, go to iPhone "Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions" — you can cancel anytime.

Q: Will my stickers still be there after my subscription expires?

A: Absolutely! Subscription expiration does not affect stickers and collections you've already created. Only the free-tier daily allowance will resume.

Q: What does the name ButtSnap mean?
